Chandler Unified School District educators demonstrated an unprecedented dedication to academic excellence and teaching innovation this year with a record-breaking 150 Cash For Classrooms grant applications!
This annual fundraising campaign, organized by the Chandler Education Foundation, garners strong community support for CUSD schools each fall. Throughout August, schools across the district engage in various activities, including class events and school-to-school competitions, to raise awareness and funds. Students contribute from their penny jars, while others donate $100 to receive the exclusive CEF State Forty Eight t-shirt. In 2023, this campaign successfully raised an impressive $134,799.
While our local community rallied behind this initiative, the talented teachers of CUSD worked diligently on their grant applications, envisioning how to utilize these funds to enhance student learning and outcomes in their classrooms. We received 150 applications from schools district-wide, spanning requests for robotics equipment for STEM lessons, digital tools to boost language fluency, and creative resources to support teen mental health.
"The remarkable creativity and the sheer number of applications we received this year underscore the unwavering commitment of CUSD teachers to providing the best possible learning experiences for our students. Witnessing these funds make a difference in classrooms and their impact on engagement and outcomes is truly gratifying. It's why we do what we do. CEF is honored to support our students and teachers through these grants," said Jen Hewitt, Executive Director of the Chandler Education Foundation.
Currently, all applications are under review by our team of volunteers, and the grant winners will be announced soon. Stay tuned to find out who the Woo Hoo Patrol will visit with grant awards!
